In case you were wondering why we haven't been blogging much lately (besides that fact that we're keeping up with a 3 month old)...we've been busy remodeling the bathroom on the main floor. We removed the old toilet and put in a white chair height toilet. We also put in a new vanity that comes to our waist, instead of our thighs. ;-) And of course we took down the old beloved Hot Air Balloon wallpaper. Yes, you are reading that correctly ...the wallpaper actually had Hot Air Balloons on it that had USA printed on each little basket. There are pictures below to prove it!
The tile was in good shape, but some of the grout needed fixing so we had Chip from Sandcastle remodeling fix the grout and take out the shower door for us. He also evened out the walls for us since they were quite uneven from the patching that the previous owners did when they took out the chair height mini tiles. Chip does great work, he did our kitchen a couple years ago too.
As with any remodeling project in an old house this was one was an adventure. From the uneven walls, which the previous owners shoved the corner of the vanity into and literally took a chunk out of the wall in doing so, to the antiquated plumbing which disintegrated in Bob's hands, it took a bit more effort than we initially thought. But, it looks fantastic now! Thank goodness Mom and Bob were here to help us or it probably would have drug on for weeks.
The good news is that this is the 3rd and last bathroom in the house to remodel! That is unless we ever add a shower into the basement bathroom...
